Here is a detailed 3-day itinerary for your Mount Meru adventure.
Your journey begins with a short drive from Arusha town to Momella Gate, the starting point inside Arusha National Park. Before the hike, you will meet your guides and park rangers, then begin ascending through rich montane forest teeming with wildlife expect to see buffalo, giraffes, bushbucks, and colobus monkeys along the trail. As you climb higher, the forest opens up to reveal breathtaking views of the surrounding plains and the lower slopes of Mount Meru. After 4–5 hours of trekking, you’ll reach Miriakamba Hut, where you will spend the night surrounded by the sounds of nature.
After an early breakfast, you will continue your ascent through the montane forest and heath zones. The path becomes steeper as you approach Saddle Hut, located between Little Meru and the main peak. This day offers magnificent panoramic views on clear days, you can see Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. After reaching Saddle Hut, you’ll have time to rest before a short acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,820m) for a stunning sunset.
