Explore the Spice Island of Zanzibar

The Zanzibar archipelago consists of over 50 islands nestled in tropical Indian Ocean waters 36 kilometers off Africa's east coast. Uguja (Zanzibar), Pemba, and Tumbatu are the main islands. Zanzibar has a tropical climate and is located 6 degrees south of the equator. Temperatures are generally warm all year. In March and November, the hottest months are just before the rains. The cooler season lasts from May to September, with an average temperature of 26 degrees Celsius.

Beaches

Zanzibar is one of the most exciting places to visit with a mix of paradise hotels and a coastline lined with brilliant beaches that fit a holiday, honeymoon or quick escape. A tour begins with a welcome from soft white sand lapped by clear turquoise water of the Indian Ocean. Beneath the surface a snorkel and mask will open up colourful coral and tropical fish. World class diving is available across the coast with warm water, wrecks and close encounters with large marine life.

Adventure

Above the water the day does not end. You can arrange game fishing, dolphin tours, kite surfing and sandbank picnics for a full mix of leisure and adventure. Beyond the shore Zanzibar gives more than waves. A spice tour will let you touch, see, smell and taste names that fill kitchen books in their natural habitat. Further optional tours include giant tortoises, turtle aquarium, Prison Island, Safari Blue, Nungwi, sunset cruise, city tour and rural culture visits.

Culture

Stone Town is the largest town of Zanzibar with more than one thousand coral stone buildings of high architectural value and over two hundred carved doors. Despite the ageing walls the town stays lively with narrow streets, Muslim homes, busy bazaars, mosques and schools. Late in the afternoon residents like to sit outside to drink coffee, talk and play board games. A walking tour is worth taking to cover Old Dispensary, Old Customs House, Palace Museum, House of Wonders and the Old Fort.

Experience

You may later explore the Catholic Cathedral, Hamamni Persian Baths and the Old Slave Market which marks a major slice of history. If you need a meal or rest on the way there are many cafes, restaurants and hotels with freshly prepared food served with either sea front calm or a rooftop breeze. Onpeak Holiday welcomes visitors and can help plan and tailor your Zanzibar tour with a full choice of mid range hotels, luxury hotels or upper luxury stays.
